Instructor Training Course (IDC, IE)
OVERVIEW

The SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Evaluation (IE) is designed to train and qualify SDI Instructors. During the course, future instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with SDI Diving Course Standards.

The instructor training is presented in two phases.
Phase One, called an Instructor Development Course (IDC), contains all developmental training except for the final evaluations. During an IDC, candidate(s) practice performances must be evaluated by at least one qualified evaluators one of whom may be a  Staff Instructor Trainer (SIT) or an  Instructor Trainer (IT). The IDC can be conducted in many formats, ranging in length from a week to an internship over an extended period.

The second, or final phase, of instructor training, is called the Instructor Evaluation (IE), during which an Instructor Trainer must be in residence and all final evaluations will be made.
The course assures the SDI that candidates who receive certification as SDI Instructors have the knowledge, skills, fitness and proper attitude to do so.
